The new carpet is fully installed. Installers did a fantastic job!

Tomorrow, the crew will finish painting and cleaning fixtures. We have two new counters that have yet to arrive. They will need to be built. Then, this weekend we will begin the slow process of reassembling the retail area. We will need to clean up the mess in the event centers and put things back to rights. Then the finishing touches before we can open.

Today, Jess cut in to paint the staff area and finished painting the main retail area. Nathan cleaned the windows and scrubbed all the bathrooms. Ryan helped paint and had the unfortunate job of restocking the army painter speed paint rack that was dumped when we moved. I painted the windowsills this evening while Scouts worked on a merit badge.. Mark was lucky enough to be discharged this evening. Things are moving along thanks to a great crew.

This afternoon staff cleaned fixtures and wiped down shelves. I repaired and sanded the walls. Then Jess and I began painting trim, doors, and the walls in the main retail area, while Mark pulled Ethernet cable. Unfortunately, there was an accident and Mark fell off the 8-foot ladder. He broke his arm, smashed his elbow, and will require surgery. This may affect the remodeling schedule. We will keep you updated.

Today, our work crew moved the remaining product and took apart the gondolas. Kevin removed the carpet in the main area of the store and the carpet layers began installing the new carpet squares. The event space rooms are packed with product and gondolas. This was all done by noon.

Today, we dismantled the store. The snow storm delayed our start, but we made quite a bit of progress anyway. Mark tried out his gondola dolly with mixed success. Staff piled games high on tables in the event center. And we crammed fixtures into the great room and card center. Our work crew was ready to be done by the end of our day. The store looks sad and empty and is a bit echoey now.

Yes! We are closed today because of snow and we will remain closed until February 2 for our remodel.

This morning, we took down Mission Control. There's a lot of stuff in the retail area that has to be moved still.

Columbia is solidly in the *expect some winter weather* on Saturday. We recommend stopping by the Gate today or Friday, because we might not be open on Saturday. And then we will be closed the following week for the renovation.

Didn't forget! Valhalla's Gate will be closed starting at 5 pm on Saturday, January 24 through Sunday, February 1. We hope to reopen on Monday, February 2 but it depends on the renovation project, the speed of the remodeling crew, and the weather. We will keep you posted.

Our first game was Silos by Reiner Knizia. Who wouldn't love a game about aliens abducting cows and humans while acquiring hats to show importance. The second is Nemesis - a cooperative, Sci Fi horror mission. I think we are going to be killed by the aliens in this game.
